This is a great little vacuum. It ran flawlessly for the first 30 days. After routine cleaning and such, it started making a horrible noise. Also, it seemed to be doing a poor job of vacuuming. I took out the brush and cleaned it several times and checked it over dozens of times. The robot still made noise, but the brush seemed fully intact. I finally gave up and just took the brush out. Lo and behold, this eliminated the horrible rattling. Something was obviously wrong here.
I opened a ticket with Samsung and they promptly sent a replacement. Don't bother with email, just call them. They don't respond to chat and email well at all.
I received the replacement and put the new brush in and the noise is 100% gone. Silent and powerful again!
I will try to post an update after another 30 days, but based on the forums and my research, I think it is likely these robots have a flaw in the brush system and eventually they give out. I have read several posts with users with the exact same issues.
Even with this flaw, it is a fantastic vacuum and if you let it run daily, it does a super job of keeping the floors clean...IF you have a brush in it.
So, by all means, buy one of these, but keep an eye out and let Samsung know if you get rattling and your brush is the cause.

We are really satisfied with this little bot. We call him Alfred cause he is kind of like our butler. We have him on WiFi, so we can get him going even when we aren't home, or we can schedule him. I was eager to test him out since we had a Roomba several years ago which couldn't even finish a room without running out of battery charge. Neither was it very thorough, it would make random passes in the one room never really going over the entire floor.
The Samsung on the other hand works just as it shows in the infomercial and videos. It goes wall to wall, back and forth, only deviating from that pattern if furniture is in the way. When furniture is in the way, it does a tight circle around the base or legs and continues on course. I have stood and watched it work its way through a tight maze of furniture in our living room. It managed to clean every available inch of open flr that had a telescope, end table, sofa and media table. I was expecting it to get stuck or push something. NOT ONCE! .it moved back and forth, did circles and covered every inch that did not have a leg on it. Then moved on without any navigational issue. Alfred does the entire house and returns home to his charging station in our guest bedroom.
We got him cause we had just gotten our yellow lab and that's a breed that sheds a lot. Alfred cleans that up without any trouble. The canister seems like the perfect size for our 1800 sqft home, though we do have to empty it each time he finishes...which is a small price to pay for a clean flr .
My only issue has been that it builds a lot of static. So it tends to have dog hair clinging to it. Oh and that our very affectionate Lab likes to lick the camera that scans the ceiling for the room floor plan. Which means I have to use that very soft cloth to clean sunglasses with to clean the streaks that are left on the camera lens so Alfred can see clearly again. Worth the price if you want your floors to be cleaned every day, without having to break a sweat.

Has good suction. Cleans well but you have to watch it as it can get stuck or trapped. We call it our drunk monkey. I thought it had room mapping but that option did not show on the Samsung app. After much research, I found, in a Samsung user forum, that Samsung replied to this issue as "No. This feature is not available on the 9040".

After being a faithful user of another brand for the past 10 years or so, I've found this product to be far superior due to it operating like a real vacuum. This thing really sucks up dirt, dust, dog hair, tiny sharp plastic pieces (that I can't call by name, but you know them by stepping on them and screaming). With the other product, it seemed to get stuck in corners, leave zig-zag patterns in the rugs and carpets, and never find the charging station before the battery went dead. This one will shut the vacuum motor down so that it can conserve energy to get back to the home base and charge. The main reason I wouldn't give this 5 stars on design is because it doesn't get under some of the places the other unit did due to the height of the suction canister. The app also needs help... it has a really nice UI, however it crashes all the time.

The first two months I owned Judi (yes I gave my vacuum a name) and used my new vacuum it was the most wonderful appliance I owned until it stopped working. I contacted Samsung and they had me send it back. But only after having to argue with them about paying for shipping; dude it was two months old. They fixed it and I have had nine months of fantastic use and suddenly it won't connect with/to the changer to recharged. So it now has to go back AGAIN! Lord only knows what they will charge for it now that it's out of warranty.

So what can I say about this awesome Samsung powerbot? Well for starters it vacuums way better then other brands that I have used over the years and out does some upright vacuums I have had also. I got this Powerbot yesterday and I have already used it four times in my big 5 bedroom house with all hardwood floors and it does a great job. I am going to recommend this machine to all my friends and family. This model that I got connects to my home wifi and it lets you control the vacuum with your smart phone and that to me is a big plus. So if you are looking to buy a Samsung powerbot please don't hesitate on this model but the price is a little high but it does the job. This is the third appliance that I Have bought from Samsung and I have had nothing go wrong yet on them. I love samsung and will always buy there products.

This is our second robot vacuum. The first was "Rosie" and she worked pretty well though it was pretty much "touch up" rather than an actual suck-it-up vacuum. But now we have had "Sammy" for a month, and he's the real deal. Whereas Rosie wondered about bumping into things and randomly sweeping as she went, Sammy tries to cover the ground in a back-and-forth pattern, and compared to Rosie, he gathers up considerably more "stuff" along the way. (Not that we're really dirty, mind you.) He tries not to bump into things, and he really jumps on the brakes to keep from going over the stairs, where Rosie sometimes went just a touch too far and turned off to keep from tumbling down. So why's he down a star? Well, he's not perfect. While he works around legged chairs and tables pretty well, it seems to throw him off his plan. As a result, sometimes his back-forth pattern isn't quite parallel to the wall and he might miss a section. We had to buy some little stands to raise the bed so he could get under it without getting stuck. And I'm not sure he would work at night because he works by camera among other things, though I haven't tried putting him on third shift so I can't really say. He does find his way home even though it's very much more tucked away than what the manual suggests. We have noticed that when he decides he's had enough and goes home, after he recharges a few hours, he appears to start up by himself to go finish the job. That's a little startling. For rooms on other floors, we just carry him in and set him off for a while and then go retrieve him. We also have him do the "mud room" entry which we have been having to use a shop vac to clean, but while it takes him some time, Sammy keeps at it until he gets the job done just as well. We've had him on trial, but now that's up and we decided he's found a home. And we think he's a welcome addition to the family.

Everyday it would get hung up somewhere in my house always under my kitchen table and chairs plus I had to put my bed skirts up high enough so that it would go under my bed and it wouldn't fit underneath one of my chairs in the front room but other than that I really liked it I like the Cyclone vacuum I just wish it was smart enough to be able to get out of underneath my kitchen table and chairs without a wheel lifting up and shutting off I don't want to have to babysit the robot

This is a great system. I have my system in a laundry room, only place I could find. I drive the bot to the room I want to clean, close the door or block the hall, press the auto button and leave. I come back in a half hour or so and it is done. I watched it clean each room the first time. Now I let it do it without me. On the main floor I push the Home button and it returns to its charger. No easy feat in my house.

I purchased this robot vacuum as a Christmas 2016 present and have been using it for a few weeks in our house. The Wi-Fi feature is useless and does not work. I used the app on my iPhone, but it almost never able to log in and connect - errors out. Even when it logs in, I am not sure of the benefit other than remotely turning on the vacuum - not very useful. The robot itself has good suction and seems smart enough to detect most objects, but about half the days it gets stuck behind a chair or elsewhere and fails to return home. I prefer that the robot vacuums the kitchen and dining room only, but I don't have a way to keep it from going into the living room. So alternatively, it roams the house randomly without guidance from humans. The spot cleaning feature works ok but does not spend enough time at the spot. The manual does not explain how to use the spot cleaning feature, but most people will figure it out. It also says that the robot will vacuum the spot "intensely", which is not the case. The robot will make eccentric circles around the area once and that's it - missing mush of the debris. I think this robot needs some work, particularly in the programmability and areas to be vacuumed.

We named our vacuum alice from the brady bunch. First two weeks worked perfectly then it started making a noise in the brush. Took it apart and cleaned everything. Still there. Could feel there is something wrong with the bushing on the brush. Contacted sumsung support. The guy was helpful as much as he could be. He couldnot send out another brush. Would have to send the whole vacuum back in. I was still under the reurn policy at best buy. So i exchanged it. Been two weeks now. New one working perfectly.
I would say if you have animal's this machine is a must have.

I have a house that is 1800 sq ft. This will not clean the whole house on one charge. You need to start at one end of the house and then the other the next day. It does an excellent job in vacuuming carpet. It has a horrible time going from tile to carpet If you have a throw rug on top of your caret then the device will work just fine.
The noise is surprisingly low. Easy to clean and easy to use the remote or the phone app. Most of the time it will not find base to recharge. You will have to look for it and place it in the charging station.

Cannot believe what a terrific job she does day after day. I was a little concerned about not having a side brush but she has the power to suck in dust and pet hair from all the base boards and even corners. She went into spasms on a carpet with Black and White geometry but since I am in a one story house I simply covered her "Cliff" sensors with band aids and she is fine. All the capability of a full size vacuum without the handle. Love her!

He repeats the same areas a lot and I wish he was able to learn the layout of my house better. Also no matter how hard I try to keep things off the floor before I leave he will always manage to get stuck on something and when I'm not home he just ends up sitting in one place all day and can't reverse to fix himself. I do really like my robot though, if anything, when he turns on and I have guests they are always impressed with how cool he looks and how good of a job he does on the carpet. I'm careful with him so I can't really attest to his durability but he seems like he could take a hit if it came down to it. One last con is the app, it makes me reconnect every time I use it. So controlling the robot when I'm not home is sometimes not possible. At the end of the day I would recommend it to anyone who has a house free of clutter, the bot will not function well in a cluttered home. I will add that I am an electrical engineer so I'm not stranger to robot technology.

I have 2 dogs (labs) and I run the power bot every night. The amount of hair and dander collected is unbelievable. The collection container is large and the clean up is easy. It cleans my kitchen, breakfast area, family room, living room , and foyer, a mixture of carpet and ceramic tile, in one hour. The little guy is a KEEPER.

I use a manual wheelchair for mobility and i must say having a robotic vacuum beats the heck out of pushing around an upright/wheelchair whilst trying not to get the cord tangled up in my wheels! I'm very impressed with the durability and power of this vacuum compared to others but i'm wondering if there's a way to create a geofencing option within the app in the future...say if you could input exact measurements of floor space and limit travel to certain areas. Have only had the Powerbot for about a week, but so far it has been working as advertised. One time if could not find the home base. We have a large house, and it went back an re-charged OK and then took up where it left off, but then went back to the kitchen which was already done. I pressed the home button, but it could not find the home base. I finally just picked it up and returned it to the home base. Seems to pick up everything almost as good as our Shark sweeper. We have a dog that sheds and it picks up very well in that area. I did have to empty once or twice, but that is a simple task. It would not be able to do the whole house without emptying.

Lives up to its claims. Powerful suction. Tracks logically and efficiently. Unit, however, lacks the ability, prohibiting crossing a threshold, as other brands usually do with a magnetic strip. Therefore, programming for specific area cleaning is not possible unattended without the remote feature to otherwise control those areas where thresholds would be crossed unless blocked by placing a physical object in its path to prevent entry.

We have speakers, tables, chairs and sofas that the device cannot reliability work around. A real vacuum operated after the robot will pick up more than you would wish.
Might workout if it is run often and if you are willing to rescue it from traps formed by your furniture.
Would not purchase again.

I live in a ranch house with all wood floors and a dog. I usually have to vacuum 3 times a week, now I just push a button, take the dog for a walk, come back and the house is all clean. The first time I used it I followed it around just to see it work, and it was actually very amusing. I also noticed that when it gets to edges, if they aren't exactly level and it notices a loss of suction, it actually turns up the RPM's to get more suction...that blew my mind. I can see the status and control it on my phone using wi-fi, plus it has a remote which is really convenient. It can be manually driven if you want, but I just prefer to hit the auto button and let it do it's thing. The battery life is also really good, it cleans my entire house on one charge (takes about 45 minutes to clean two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room). It was priced better than the competitor and I've always trusted Samsung so I'm very happy with it.

This unit looks as good as it cleans. I have lots of obstacles in my home, chairs, desks, sofas and this unit makes it way around them with out much trouble at all. I also have several Cats and my carpets look great after this Power bot makes it way around, and the animals are amused by it.
The quality of the construction is apparent in the way it feels and how you can program it to do the work you need, via WIFI. Remote cleaning is something I have always looked into, and I'm glad I went with a product produced by Samsung technology. You get what you pay for and I''m glad I made the right decision.

I've owned another robotic vacuum from another manufacturer for years spent a lot of time emptying the small bin and cleaning brushes. This is not the case with my Samsung vacuum. The bin holds a lot and it does a MUCH better job than my old vacuum. It works well for pet hair. I have had my Samsung for a few weeks now and would highly recommend it!

After using it for 1 month, I observed and collected info from all the incidents the PowerBot can get stuck (area, objects or corner area that PowerBot cannot resolve). With this learning period, I rearranged furniture, blocked a few area in my home to work with PowerBot. The PowerBot no longer get stuck and can return to charging station after AUTO-CLEAN.
